About Roof
Brief note on the roof construction of Moira, The Roofing for the project of Bairro Alto is boarded Mangalore tile roof. The boarding is made of decorative Marine ply which is protected on the upper surface with APP Waterproofing membrane having a reflective coat over which is fixed wooden battens and Mangalore tiles. The lower surface of the ply is polished for wooden look. The roof fulfils two conditions i.e. Waterproofing and Heat Insulation. The Waterproofing is achieved through the APP membrane while the reflective coating and the air gap between the Manglore tiles and boarding ensures a well-ventilated and cold roof. A number of such roofs are in use all over Goa for 20 years and have performed well against the heavy showers with almost no leakage over the years.
